This location is one of the original vertical wind tunnels in the world. The tunnel is located just off the strip in the heart of Las Vegas. Previously named Flyaway Indoor Skydiving, this location has been open since 1982 and still runs strong. The tunnel is powered by a 1,000-hp electric motor attached to the propeller from a DC-3 aircraft which features column of air surrounded by pads where flyers enjoy unmatched sensations. It is a similar design to that found at Flyaway in Pigeon Forge, TN and Niagara Freefall.
Gear & Training
You will be provided with all the equipment you need. This includes a jumpsuit, helmet, goggles and earplugs.
The entire first time flight experiences take roughly 1-2 hours. After arriving and checking in, you take part in a personalized training session before gearing up to fly. During your flights your instructor teaches you to fly your body. You take turns flying one at a time with other first time flyers.
For first time flights we recommend between 2 and 6 minutes of flight time per person. This gives you enough time to understand the basics of flying your body and is plenty of time for a great experience. For more pricing information, read our pricing article.
Took the time to properly train for safety. Since this is one of the OLDEST vertical wind tunnels, it is lprobably one of the LARGEST.
This is NOT a small glass tube, observers watch through small windows on a spiral rise around the tube.
One person varies the wind speed based on the experience and type of wind-suit the customer is wearing.
It is very noisy, hand signals are learned and used by everyone.
They keep a close watch over everyone, but IT WAS A LOT OF GREAT FUN. One of the silliest recollections for me, though was the uncontrolled laughing at times when I realized I was "drooling upwards"!!!
