As of April 16th, 2016 iFLY King of Prussia is officially open to the public! This wind tunnel marks manufacturer SkyVenture's 50th tunnel opening worldwide. This latest location is one of many 14 foot single story facilities to open around the USA. The tunnel sits roughly 20 miles from the Philadelphia city center in King of Prussia at 290 Goddard Blvd.
This location is among the recent burst of wind tunnel openings along the east coast. Exactly one month ago iFLY Loudoun near DC opened and iFLY Westchester opened to the north late last year. To accompany this new tunnel in Philly, another facility is in the early stages over in Mount Laurel.
This new Mount Laurel facility will sit roughly 35 miles on the other side of downtown. iFLY has built other facilities in such close proximity in the past so we aren't surprised to see two facilities near a metro area with a population of over 6 million.
The tunnel opening has been met with massive support from the local community and plenty of excitement. You can find out more information about the tunnel and book a flight right here on ISS through the iFLY King of Prussia profile page.
